Kevin and Brian were on the hunt for sharks…..they found them. Check em out!!

The Cleans were out at the Cove on Jeffrey’s Ledge last weekend. While they were out there they saw a couple of humpback whales and several tuna pods surfaced very close to the boat. Pretty cool, but not as cool as Mrs. Clean bringing this bad boy in all by herself. It is almost as big as she is……. so it was no easy feat!! Congrats Jennifer.
Al and Ca caught keepers at long ledge out by the Isle of Shoals yesterday. When I talked to them last night they were sitting down to a nice dinner of fresh baked cod!
Jackson B got the fishing bug this year and has been at it for a month. He caught a few dozen macks a few weeks ago and loved it. He and his dad Jonathan, have been striper fishing a number of times and he has been very patient with not even a hit. They were trolling by Jubillee Yacht Club, through a bait ball, and POP! He got his first striper and it was a keeper! 8lbs, 29″. He has so excited he could barely contain himself!
This photo really warrants front page news. However, it was bad timing because my blue and I took top billing. Christian and Matt both work at Boston Duck Tours. They caught this tuna on Christians boat out at Stellwagon Bank. Christian should start a reality show called “The Fish Whisperer”, he is that good at the sport. Amazing, really amazing…..approximate weight is about 100 lbs. Makes my blue look like a sardine. You did good “Dude”.
This is Kevin. Kevin is known as “Mr. Clean” around the marina. You should see his boat….it’s meticulous, it sparkles. This guy just loves to clean. He is the envy of every dirty boat owner on the water. Imagine how excited he was when he caught these huge cod, he got to fillet and clean them. He had a total of 6 keepers. He landed them at the Cove at Jefferies Ledge. Way to go, Kevin!
Ok, this is really irking me now! Why can’t I catch anything ( yes, I am whining)…..Melissa reeled this keeper in last week. It must be so exciting to land a “real” fish. Sadly, I wouldn’t know, whatever. Excellent job Melissa.
Don’t take this personally, Carolyn……But, you sure have a big bass! Carolyn caught this right in the Merrimack River in her favorite spot. She is hooked on the sport and has become a fishing fool. Nice job!
Wow, look at the size of this thing! Brian B. caught this striper on Stellwagon bank. He released it after the photo.
I have NEVER caught anything other than dogfish and a crab or two….whatever. Check out what someone on Brian’s boat hooked last weekend.
It is a Sturgeon! They caught it outside the jetties at the mouth of the Merrimac river. It was caught on a chunk of mackerel. Sturgeon and related paddlefish first appear in the fossil record approximately 200 million years ago, making them among the most ancient of actinopterygian fishes. Almost all species are highly threatened or vulnerable to extinction due to a combination of habitat destruction, overfishing and pollution.
Caviar is the processed, salted roe of certain species of fish, most notably the sturgeon (black caviar) and the salmon (red caviar).
Catching one of these is a rarity in these parts. So, it was pretty exciting for the Finn- Lander’s captain to land this 4 foot bad boy!
